Sketch for Business Week
This is a quick sketch that I just did for Business week. They wanted something very loose, sketchy, and washy. Very similar to a Billy Joe that I did a while back. They also wanted a darker palette. The sketches below the final sketch were done in prep for the job, trying to come up with a concept or idea for the drawing. They wanted to show that this guy is headed for a tough year. I right away thought of the roadrunner cartoons and thought it would be funny to have him leaping off a cliff . . . turns out they wanted something much more simple and even less detailed, more loose, more sketchy. It's fun every once and a while to do something quick and loose. BTW, the final was done with a BIC ballpoint pen, with a few washes of watercolor . . . drawn in my sketchbook.

Beautiful work, man!
just great. I LOVE to see watercolours done well, and your stuff is a prime example of it. I like your concepts too.
Looks like my next door neighbour. Nice work.
AWESOME! Great to see you getting this stuff printed Jason!

Thanks everyone, yeah . . . a bit different from me, but it's a lot of fun . . .
great Seiler!love that cliff idea.
Looks a bit like Maxwell Smart (I trust most remember). You're right in there with the others who've penned this style Jason. A great classic look and I imagine the art director will be pleased. Nice to be able to serve up a variety of stylistic renderings ....
