New Self Portrait Work in Progress
I'm working on some new painting techniques for my portrait work . . . I want to be more painterly and expressive, less photo realistic . . . trying to push myself and having a blast . . . feels good to play around. I'll be messing around with some acrylics today too, more to come on that soon.
I wanted to share the looseness and brush work with you all, so this is a close up crop of the painting. I'll post the final when I finish it.

Love that painterly loose style! Great job so far. The layout is really interesting. The way you have posed for this. Very interesting!
When do you sleep! Keep up the great work. You are one of the few artists that posts regularly and I love coming back to see what you are up to next.
I especially like the wet smushiness of the background texture (white etc) over your shoulder on the left hand side. Nice.
crazy :)
fantastic man. I love the spirit of exploration on this one. I can tell you had fun painting it!
Very expressive and it really captures that sinister side of Jason :) Great work!!
definitely dig the painterly aspects.
I really like (very much) the new orientation you give to your work. This painterly touch is great.

Nice man! Keep it up.
Reminds me of some of lucian freud's paintings (the style and also the palette). I like it a lot!
you're a beautiful man.
Terrific. John Singer Sargent would be proud. Great work.
