Block in has begun!

Thank God I have a good looking Dad I tell ya . . . good genes for SURE! As you can tell, I haven't finished. About three hours worth of painting, took a bit to settle with the flesh palette on this one . . . still have to tighten a few things up as well as finish the hair. I think I'm going to leave it loose and painterly but tighten up the eyes and mouth a bit more?

My Old Man!

I did this sketch with sketchbook pro, I love that program! Anyways, I'm currently working on Schoolism and this is one of the drawings or sketches that I did yesterday for my online course. Also, yesterday I had the pleasure of having lunch with my friend Bill Moore, he was here in Chicago visiting family and gave me a call. He does some great watercolor and gouache work, make sure you check his blog out.
BTW, this is a sketch of my Dad, please do yourself a favor and check out his work as well, he's an amazing painter!

I'm back . . . with some sketches!

Just got back from my little vacation with my family. I always bring drawing and painting stuff with my wherever I go. Even though there's not much time with a four year old and a 10 month old, I still managed to squeeze in a few sketches. All are graphite on cardstock paper except for the "Muhamawhat" which is prismacolor pens on cardstock and the condi sketch was sketched in photoshop and blocked in with photoshop as well.

Some cool news! I just found out that my Hillary/Obama painting was accepted in this years Society of Illustrators show in Los Angeles.

Some Sketches, and I'm off!

Well, I'm off on a little vacation, been busy as busy can be and will share some new work soon! For now I'll just post a couple really quick, 5 to 10 minute scratches on paper that I did while in the planning stage of a recent spot illustration.

Don Hill - Quick Sketch . . . fairly quick anyways!

I'm in the middle of a few publication jobs, just finished a cover for a children's book and starting another spot illustration today for The Weekly Standard. So to break things up a bit, I'm posting a quick ps sketch that I did tonight of my friend Don Hill.
