Quick Cafe Sketch Video!
Hello everyone, wanted to share something a bit different, thought it would be fun to watch. These are some sketches I did really quick while sitting at Pollo Loco, Chipotles and the Emergency Room . . . . my daughter was really sick last week, was at the doctors quite a bit, she's much better now! These are really fun to do because the people I'm sketching don't even consider that I may be drawing them. They see a laptop and think I'm typing or something of the sort . . . even still, people do not sit still for any great length of time, the first two I drew got up and left in the middle of me sketching . . . I know, rude right? The music is Wilco, enjoy!

Wow, this was really fun to watch! I like to see your sort of reductive process in working from big shapes to fine details. Nice work.
Thanks Jason for posting the video and I'm glad to hear your daughter is doing better! I know what you mean about the laptop, no one knows your drawing them, very cool camouflage. I would go to the zoo with my charcoal pencil and sketchpad and someone would stop and give me the interrogation run down. What are you drawing? How long have you been drawing? I’m sure you know the routine. Again thanks for posting the video!
Sweet, thanks for recording and posting these. Glad to hear your daughter is better. By the way, are these in real time? If so, you are fast!
Enjoyed every minute Jason. Cool to see how you layed in the construction lines to get the foundation going.
Hey man, you are a drawing maniac!! It's really cool to see you sketching so much and doing some wonderful work too! Your latest caricatures are awesome as well. I hope one day to meet all the amazing artists from Imaginism Studios. :)
nice man. keep it up.
...I enjoyed watching the video, Jason. I'm curious about what sort of portable rig you are carrying around with you to do the digital sketching with.
I posted this over at the Schoolism Blog too but thought it might be better to answer here since weaselboy was wondering the same thing...
Those are awesome. I've often thought of taking my laptop in Starbucks or somewhere similar to do some sketching but really don't want people to figure out what I'm doing. Do you put your tablet on top of your keyboard or something?
cool Jason!!
Thank you Sam!
Thanks flydesign, and yeah, my girls is doing real well now!
Thanks Paul, and no this isn't real time, each sketch took anywhere from 3 to 5, maybe 6 minutes, really quick.
Thanks Bill, glad you liked the video, was fun to do.
Thanks Shawn . . . would be really cool to meet you. Will you be at the San Diego comic con by any chance? I'll be there this year selling my book.
Thank you Sensei, Weaselboy and doug! As for what I use when I sketched these . . . I have a pc tablet . . . I draw right on the screen . . . so from other people's point of view, it looks like I'm working on my computer . . . which I am. Some people don't call doodling work, but I do. :)
Thanks Marco!
